What is homeostasis?

Definition: Homeostasis means maintenance of static or constant condition in the internal environment.

All the tissues of the body help to maintain these constant condition.

Example :

1.Lung provides oxygen to the cell and eliminate carbon dioxide and other volatile metabolic end products from the cell .

2.Kidney maintain constant ionic concentration.

3.GIT always provide nutrition to the cell.

How homeostasis is maintained in the body?

Homeostatic control system: Hundreds of control systems working for maintenance of homeostasis show two common modes of action :

1. Negative feedback system.

2.Positive feedback system.
